Jim Smerz, Athletic Director for Beavercreek High School has announced that Beavercreek High School will participate in the Spielman Gridiron Classic IV against Wayne High School on October 7th, 2011 at Frank Zink Field at Miami Valley Hospital Stadium.

Chris Spielman, former Ohio State University and Detroit Lions linebacker, and the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at The James Cancer Hospital and the Solove Research Institute have teamed up with Ohio Sports Classics, LLC, The Ohio Fellowship of Christian Athletes, The U.S. Army and Buffalo Wild Wings to present this year”s Spielman Gridiron Classic IV.

Chris Spielman said, I am so excited that Beavercreek High School is participating in this year”s event. Last year was a huge success and we hope to make this year”s Classic even bigger by holding games all across Ohio. Together, We Will Win!

AD Jim Smerz said that the school”s Football Club will be selling pink T-Shirts and Bracelets as well as holding a special “night out” at Beef O’Brady’s on October 6. Beef O’Brady’s will donate a portion of sales to the cause.

All of the money raised by the Football Club will be donated to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

The game also plans to honor all local cancer survivors at Half-Time with a special audio message from Chris Spielman and the BHS Cheerleaders will plan a balloon launch in memory of Cheer Coach Penny Massie who lost her battle with Breast Cancer earlier this year. Following the game a representative from the Spielman Gridiron Classic will award the Champions trophy to the Winning Team, as well as Most Valuable Player and Runner-Up trophies.
