The “Backyard Battle” resumed Friday night with an inspired Xenia team rolling into Beavercreek and leaving with the Backyard Battle trophy.  The Buccaneers scored first on a Ray James 1-yard scoring run to take a 6-0 lead midway through the first quarter after the Beavers failed to take the early lead on a missed FG.  Beavercreek answered though, putting together a long scoring drive capped off by a 4-yard TD run by RB Hunter Steele to give the Beavers their first and only lead of the game at 7-6.  The scoring drive was primarily fueled by Junior RB Tim Bradshaw’s finding holes up the middle of the Xenia defense.  The Beavers would not score again and would watch Xenia strike quickly on a 77-yard scoring pass and a 9-yard scoring run to take a 21-7 lead into halftime.  With the help of 4 Beavercreek turnovers, the Bucs were able to easily take momentum and control of the game, scoring 44 unanswered points to claim a 50-7 win.  The Bucs used a balance offense, finishing with 219 yards through the air and 211 yards on the ground, most of which came on several big plays.  The Beavers were led by Tim Bradshaw, who finished with 127 yards on the ground.  Hunter Steele pitched in with 79 yards on 6 carries, to help the Beavers tally 258 yards on the ground.  The Beavers fall to 0-1 on the season and will host the crosstown rival Carroll Patriots on Friday at 7:00 PM.  Go Beavers!
