August 26, 2014

The Beavercreek Beavers will open the 2014 season by hosting the Xenia Buccaneers on Friday, August 29th.  Kickoff is at 7:00 PM at BHS Stadium.  The Beavers return a young team this year with only a handful of starters from last year’s team that went 5-5.  Most of the returning experience is on the offensive side of the ball, with Seniors Logan Turben (QB/RB/WR) and Hunter Steele (RB) returning some experience in the backfield.  The bulk of the returning experience is on the offensive line where the Beavers return four starters — Senior Matthew Brady and Juniors Andrew Greenspan, Brian Loose, and Jackson Hansen (2nd Team GWOC).  Last year, the Beavers rushed for over 3,000 yards, but lost their top four rushers to graduation.  Defensively, the Beavers return Seniors Mikel Davis and Brandon Williams in the secondary and Seniors Thomas Baker (LB/DT), Austin Carf (DE), and Junior Michael Davis (DT) on the line.  The Xenia Buccaneers enter the season hoping to build on last year’s 4-6 mark.  Junior QB Danny Naylor (Special Mention GWOC) returns after throwing for 1,413 yards and 5 TDs a year ago.  The Bucs also return Bowling Green commit Bobo Jones (RB/DB), and Senior Khalil Capers (1st Team GWOC) who both provide scoring threats on offense.
