With a near capacity crowd on hand at Xenia as the Buccaneers played their first game on their new turf field, the Beavercreek Beavers rolled into town and thoroughly dominated the hometown Bucs, 45-7.  Earlier Friday morning on Fox 45, Xenia QB Danny Naylor questioned on live TV why Beavercreek still runs the triple option.  He need not wonder any longer as the Beavers scored on every possession except one and rolled up 405 yards rushing on a Xenia defense that many expected to be one of the area’s best with 8 returning starters from a year ago.  The Beavers were just as dominant on defense, holding Xenia to -5 yards on the ground and forcing Xenia into three and outs on almost every possession.

Beavercreek built a 21-0 lead early and kept Xenia from gaining a first down until midway through the second quarter.  Xenia finally got on the board with 3:07 left in the first half, but Beavercreek struck again before halftime following a long kickoff return that set the Beavers up with first and goal from the 7 yard line.  The Beavers took a 28-7 lead into halftime and extended it to 31-7 at the end of three quarters, as the Beavers held the ball for almost the entire third quarter.  Creek tacked on two scores in the 4th, including the final score with just 7 seconds remaining to make the final score of 45-7.

Beavercreek was led on offense by senior running back Tim Bradshaw, who rushed 28 times for 192 yards and 3 touchdowns.  QB Hunter Maloney added two scores and 88 yards and newcomer Noah Corrigan (Jr. RB) added 44 yards and score.  On defense, junior Julian Linkhart had two interceptions and a 78-yard kickoff return to set up another score just before halftime.  Linkhart was also a presence in the secondary, leveling hits on many Xenia receivers who dared come across the middle.  The Creek defense was solid against the pass and put constant pressure on Naylor, who struggled to find receivers.  Junior Jack Knipper led the defense with 5 tackles and a half sack.

Beavercreek begins the season 1-0 and will travel to crosstown rival Carroll next week (kickoff 7:00 PM).
